the city of Cambridge is situated in the east of England approximately 50 miles north of London in the county of Cambridgeshire.  Evidence of prehistoric man has been discovered in the city however the first significant settlement came at the time of the Roman invasion of Britain when Cambridge started life as the strategic military outpost of DuroliponteThe Anglo-Saxons occupied the settlement after the Romans and then came the Vikings whose business acumen was the reason for the rapid growth of Cambridge.
