|    Colchester United FC  Colchester United FC Colchester United football club Colchester United football club is an East Anglian football club formed in 1937 and famed as the team that caused a major upset in the 1971 F.A. Cup competition. Then a 4th division side, CUFC (Colchester United Football Club) beat the greatest team in English football at that time Leeds United and knocked them out of the English F.A. Cup. Ironically this success proved to be a burden for Colchester United in the ensuing years as subsequent squads were unable to match the achievement. After dropping out of the football league completely in the early 90’s Colchester United showed great resilience and set about steadfastly reclaiming their position. In recent times they worked their way through the divisions reaching their peak when they entered the English 'Championship', the second tier of English football. After a couple of seasons in the Championship they were relegated and currently play their football in the English League one. Colchester United played their home matches at Layer Road for seventy one years until April 27th 2007 when they took to the pitch for the last time in a match against Stoke City. Their new home is now at the Weston Homes community Stadium, a brand new stadium on the other side of Colchester.      Colchester sweatshirt | Colchester Utd news | Colchester Utd 1st team | Colchester Utd 09/10 | Colchester Utd 10/11 | Colchester Utd transfer news |
