Hubert de Givenchy - (1927 - ) French fashion designer Hubert de Givenchy was born in Beauvais, France. Hubert de Givenchy started his career in the fashion industry in 1945 working for the French fashion designer Jacques Fath. By 1952 Hubert de Givenchy was an established fashion designer in his own right and he opened the House of Givenchy in 1952 naming his first solo collection after Bettina Graziani, Paris's top model.  Hubert de Givenchy retired in 1995 and was succeeded as designer by John Galliano.
