Issey Miyake - (1938 - ) Japanese fashion designer Issey Miyake was born in Hiroshima, Japan.  After graduating Issey Miyake worked in Paris and New York before returning to Tokyo in 1970 to open the Issey Miyake design studio.  In the late 80s Issey Miyake introduced new methods of pleating that resulted in the technique called garment pleating.  In the 90's Issey Miyake returned to research and passed the fashion designing to his associate Naoki Takizawa.
