Liverpool sweatshirt University of Liverpool The University of Liverpool was first established in 1881 and was originally known as the University College Liverpool. The following year the first students were admitted and then two years later it became part of the federal Victoria University along with Manchester and Leeds. It became the University of Liverpool in 1903 following a Royal Charter and Act of Parliament. Over the years the University of Liverpool has produced many first class students and proudly boasts a number of Nobel Prize winners including physician Sir Ronald Ross, physicist Professor Charles Barkla, the physiologist Sir Charles Sherrington and chemist Sir Robert Robinson. The University of Liverpool consists predominantly of a single urban campus, situated a short distance from Liverpool City Centre, today the University of Liverpool has over 20,000 students, the majority of which are full time. The University of Liverpool now has a wide range of teaching and research in arts and sciences and has a large medical school, which is associated with the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. The University of Liverpool's main site is divided into six faculties arts, engineering, medicine, social and environmental sciences, sciences and veterinary science.
