30/12/08 - Steven Gerrard charged by police
Liverpool FC captain Steven Gerrard has been charged with assault and affray following a disturbance outside a Merseyside nightclub. In a statement, a Merseyside Police spokesman said: "Merseyside Police has charged Steven Gerrard, 28 years, of Formby, Sefton, John Doran, 29, and Ian Smith, 19 years, both from Huyton, Liverpool, with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray following an incident at Bold Street in Southport in the early hours of Monday, December 29. The three men will be appearing at North Sefton Magistrates' Court on January 23."

Liverpool FC captain Steven Gerrard is reportedly one of six men arrested following a fight at a bar in Southport, the incident happened soon after the Liverpool FC captain scored two goals to help his side to an emphatic 5-1 defeat over Newcastle United.

Liverpool FC captain Steven Gerrard has said he wants to end his career with the merseyside team. Gerrard made his debut for the Liverpool FC first team ten years ago and with two and a half years to run on his current contract the 28 year old midfielder said "Hopefully I will sign another one and stay for the remainder of my career".

19/11/08 - Benayoun considering his future
Liverpool FC's Israeli midfielder Yossi Benayoun has voiced his frustration at manager Rafael Benitez's current policy of using him as a substitute. In an interview with Israel's Channel Five TV Benayoun said "If the situation remains the same over the next few months, I will not want to continue as a Liverpool player" adding "I hope it changes as I want to stay and prove myself but it won't be easy". Since joining Liverpool FC for £5 million from West Ham in 2007 Benayoun has made 41 appearances but so far this season has only started 4 times.

Liverpool fc manager Rafael Benitez is expected to start imminent talks with the club's owners over a new contract. The 48 year old Spaniard's current six year deal will take him to 2010 however he told the Liverpool fc website "I received a phone call from Tom Hicks on behalf of George Gillett also," and added "They are talking about a meeting with my advisers and a contract extension. This is very positive news".

Liverpool fc manager Rafael Benitez has indicated that Fernando Torres should be ready for a return to the Liverpool FC team for tomorrow's Champions League match against Atletico Madrid. Benitez said on Monday "hopefully he'll be ready," adding "if he cannot start then he will be on the bench if all is okay."

Torres limped off after just 16 minutes into the match, which Spain won 2-1, and will now await final medical reports which should confirm exactly what the injury is.

Liverpool FC defender Martin Skrtel suffered posterior cruciate ligament damage to his right knee during Sunday's 3-2 Premier League win over Manchester City at Eastlands. The Slovakian fell awkwardly after a challenge late in the second half, a club spokesman said he will see a specialist on Tuesday when they should have more idea how long he is likely to be out.

Liverpool FC midfielder Steven Gerrard is due to undergo a groin operation today which will rule him out of England's opening World Cup 2010 qualifying games, against Andorra and Croatia, and may leave him sidelined for Liverpool's next Premier League match against Manchester United.
