Liverpool FC Daniel Agger Liverpool FC Daniel Agger

Liverpool FC player profile - Daniel Agger

Daniel Munthe Agger, the Liverpool FC and Denmark footballer better known as simply Daniel Agger, was born on December 12 1984 in Hvidovre, Denmark. Daniel Agger began playing football at an early age and by the time he was 12 years old he had joined the youth squad of Brondby IF, the Danish Superliga (premier division) side. In July 2004 at the age of 19 years old Daniel Agger became part of the first team at Brondby and was an integral part of the team that won the 04/05 Danish Superliga. Daniel Agger's performance over the season led to his call up to the Danish national squad where he made his full debut in a 1-0 friendly win over Finland.

Daniel Agger suffered an injury early during the following season which sidelined him from September 2005 for a few months until the end of the year. At the start of 2006 Daniel Agger was being linked with a move to a Premier League club during the January transfer window and on 12 January 2006 after 49 appearances and 5 goals Daniel Agger left Brondby and was unveiled as a new signing by Liverpool FC. The £5.8million transfer fee paid by Liverpool FC saw Daniel Agger not only become the most expensive defender the club had ever bought but also the most expensive footballer sold by a Danish club to a foreign club. Injuries meant that Daniel Agger only made 4 first-team appearances for Liverpool FC during the remainder of the 05/06 season.

Daniel Agger won his first trophy with Liverpool FC at the beginning of the 06/07 season when they won the 2006 FA Community Shield, he then scored his first goal for the Merseyside club on 26 August 2006 in a 2–1 win against West Ham United. Daniel Agger's first goal was an impressive 30 yard shot which became Liverpool FC's goal of the 06/07 season. By the end of the season Daniel Agger had made 43 appearances and scored 4 goals, one of which came in the 2nd leg semi final of the Champions League against Chelsea and helped Liverpool FC to the final. Daniel Agger then went on to play in the final which Liverpool FC lost 2-1 to AC Milan. The following 07/08 season saw Daniel Agger sidelined for all but 6 matches with consecutive foot injuries, he then returned to the squad for the 08/09 season.
