Gary Neville is one of a rare breed of footballer who has spent his entire football career at the same club, from youth through to senior level. In the early 1990's Gary Neville was one of a number of young players brought through the Manchester United ranks by manager Alex Ferguson. He made his senior Manchester United debut in September 1992 in a UEFA Cup match against Torpedo Moscow, appearing initially for the club as a central defender before becoming the regular choice right back. Gary Neville has won many trophies at club level the first of which came in his debut season when Manchester United won the first ever Premier League title. Gary Neville's first FA Cup winners medal came in 1994, five years later in 1999 he was part of the Champions League winning side, and, later in 2006 Gary Neville won the League Cup with Manchester United, in between he has enjoyed a number of Premier League and FA Cup final wins with the club. In 2005 long term Manchester United captain Roy Keane left the club which led to Alex Ferguson handing the captaincy to Gary Neville. His brother Phil Neville also played for Manchester United between 1993 and 2005 and the brothers played together many times and made history in 1996 as the first brothers to play in an FA Cup final. Gary Neville has enjoyed a long career as an England international too which began in 1995 when the then manager Terry Venables called him up for a friendly against Japan. In his time with England Gary Neville has featured in a number of competitions including the Euro 96 championships in England, the France 98 World Cup, the Euro 2000 championships in Belgium and the Netherlands, the Korea/Japan 2002 World Cup, the Euro 2004 championships in Portugal and the Germany 2006 World Cup. Off the field Gary Neville is a lover of the Mediterranean island of Malta, a country he has visited regularly on holiday since childhood, he is an ambassador for tourism for the country and in return the MTA (Malta Tourism Authority) and Air Malta sponsor the Gary Neville Soccer School on the island.
