Daniel Nii T. M. "Danny" Welbeck, more usually known as just Danny Welbeck, Manchester United footballer, was born to Ghaianan parents on 26 November 1990 in Longsight, Manchester, England. Danny Welbeck showed great promise as a footballer through his school years so much so that he appeared for the England U16's as a fourteen year old and at the age of fifteen joined the Manchester United youth side. On 8 April 2006 Danny Welbeck made his debut for the Manchester United U18 side in a league match against Sunderland. The following 06/07 season saw Danny Welbeck appearing regularly for the U18's and at the end of it in July 2007 he signed his first trainee contract.
Danny Welbeck once again began the 07/08 season as an U18 squad player but was very shortly promoted to the Reserve team where he appeared as a substitute on a number of occasions. Then in January 2008 Danny Welbeck was called up to the Manchester United first team for the trip to Saudi Arabia to play in a testimonial match for one of Saudi Arabia's most famous footballers Sami Al-Jaber. The match on 21 January 2008 against Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal was Danny Welbeck's Manchester United debut as he came on as as a 65th-minute substitute.
Danny Welbeck made his competitive debut for Manchester United the following 08/09 season on 23 September 2008 when he started a League Cup match against Middlesborough. Two months later on 15 November 2008 Danny Welbeck made his Premier League debut against Stoke City, coming off of the bench to score Manchester United's fourth goal in the 5-0 victory. He scored again in his next appearance and FA Cup debut on 04 January 2009 in a 3-0 third rouind win over Southampton. In his first full season (08/09) with the senior squad Danny Welbeck picked up 2 winners medals as part of the squad that won both the English League Cup and the prestigious Premier League title.
