Manchester United player profile - Wes Brown
Wesley Michael "Wes" Brown, more widely known as Wes Brown Manchester United and England footballer, was born on 13 October 1979 in Longsight, Manchester. Wes Brown took to football at an early age and as a youth played for the Burnage High School and Fletcher Moss Rangers a Greater Manchester side. Wes Brown was also a former student of the FA School of Excellence and joined the Manchester United Academy as a 12 year old. On 04 November 1996 at the age of 17 years old Wes Brown signed his first professional contract with Manchester United.
Wes Brown made his Premiership debut at the end of the 07/08 season coming on as a substitute in a match against Leeds United. The gradual inclusion of Wes Brown in the Manchester United first team began during the 08/09 season when he appeared in the right and centre back positions on a number of occasions. By the end of that season Wes Brown had achieved hs first major honours with the club as they captured the treble, winning the 1999 Premiership, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League. Prior to the start of the following 99/00 season Wes Brown suffered an injury in training which kept him out of competive matches for the entire season.
Wes Brown came back strongly for Manchester United's 00/01 campaign helping them to win yet another Premiership title. Aside from a number of injuries that have kept him out of action from time to time, Wes Brown has constantly figured in Sir Alex Ferguson's first team and has won numerous honours with the club. Wes Brown has also made sporadic appearances for the the England national side having been recalled to the squad on various occasions by different managers.
